I hotly support the project “Popularization of social responsibility of business in Russia”, non-commercial organization “European House” in the frame of which there will be published “The information guide of social and charitable programs of Russian and foreign business in Russia”
Business is a hard, rational and at the first sight deprived of any sentiments and compassionate aspirations. It is based on calculation and economy. And nevertheless if we’ll analize the history of successful business we shall come to the conclusion that giants of business gravitated towards serious noble deeds, towards Maecenas and sponsorship and patronage and very often spared no expense, for welcome to God projects, and such kind of business was prosperous but “businessmen” caring only of their own profits soon became unable to go on with hitting the distance.
It’s not surprising because there is no and there cannot be any healthy and prosperous business in an unhealthy social and indigent environment. And that means that the care of healthy and prosperous environment is an important part of the business itself, and its “protective charter’. The creation of the Information guide will become, as I hope, a guide-book for everybody, for the ones who want to be successful in business and to be respected in the human society.”

“ To our numerous compatriots and representatives of Russian and foreign business working in Russia”
I appeal to you whose interests are not limited only by the gaining your own good things of life, but to those who share the values of higher rate.
In bygone days, not long ago, charitable activity was an inalienable part of life of some representatives of aristocracy. My predecessors and grandfathers created homes for strangers, wanderers, piligrims, educational homes, asylums, orphanages, charity schools, erected temples, monasteries and nunneries, post-offices, they developed the art, science, architecture, orchestras, supported talented musicians, actors, composers, helped beggars and those deprived of share.
The idea of “European House” to create the Information guide which will promote the popularization of maecenas in Russia, acknowledging the merits and encouraging all good undertakings of modern owners of business. This idea is near and clear for me and I gladly support this initiative.
I thank all those who have already responded to this initiative, and I expect that still more participants will take part in this important project. I am pleased to realize that thanks to your endeavour and efforts these noble traditions of mercy and love are revived today. Today you are our continuers in noble deeds for the benefit of Russia!
Become future Sheremetyevs!

Fernando M. VALENZUELA
Ambassador, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Russia |
The Delegation of the European Union has been working in the Russian Federation for 20 years now to strengthen cooperation between our nations. Russia is a strategic partner of the European Union and I am happy that our partnership is growing stronger each year. We are close partners in many fields – trade, science, education, culture. In our collaboration we certainly could not bypass the social sphere that is so important for the development of every society.
Both Europe and Russia face social problems that affect the development of our societies as a whole. Many years of experience show that a proven way to solve these problems is an effective cooperation of the government, society and business. Social responsibility has for decades been an integral part of the philosophy of European business and organisations working in any country of the world. I would also like to mention that we can now see a revival in the tradition of philanthropy among Russian companies.
Russian business has the potential to positively contribute to resolving sensitive social problems like development of mechanisms of social adaptation, professional training and employment of young people with disabilities, support to systemic programmes aimed at reducing the amount of social orphans and increasing the number of adopted children, inclusion of persons with disabilities in the society. The Delegation of the European Union is contributing to the solution of these issues by supporting the exchange of experience between EU member states and Russia in these fields and providing financial support.
I would like to thank the European House for the opportunity to showcase a few of the many social projects that we support and that have been jointly implemented by the Russian and EU partners. Detailed information on these and other projects can be obtained from the website of the EU Delegation to Russia http://eeas.europa.eu/delegations/russia/index_en.htm

Dear colleagues!
The Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs welcomes the publication of
the Social and Charity Programs of the Guide to Russian Business and Foreign Business
in Russia. Our organization consistently pushes for socially responsible business
practices, fostering in our society an atmosphere of confidence in business. We support
the initiative by the European Home to put social activities of companies under public
spotlight.
Business community plays an active role in social development. Entrepreneurs invest
considerable sums not only in their personnel training or staff development, improving
working conditions, social security of employees. They also take part in resolving
socially challenging issues in their operation areas and regard their social investment as a
component of their business and an element of corporate responsibility.
Many companies today are seeking to create long-term corporate social policies and
use those as a foundation for their social program networks tailored to the expectations of
all those involved. Also they enter into partnerships with non-profit organizations and
government authorities. Best practices prove that coordinated steps, jointly taken, bring
along effective solution of a whole raft of social problems based on the balance between
the interests of every party involved.
I wish all of you success!

Canadian Business association CERBA is glad to participate in the project of European House for the aim of popularization of social responsibility of business in Russia.
Charitable activity of the Canadian Business association CERBA began to act from 2002, when first charitable auction of Canadian business circles together with International Sport Academy of Vladimir Tretyak. In 2011 we conducted our tenth jubilee auction. During all these years we in common gathered more than million dollars (USD 1.162.000), which were distributed among most vulnerable layers of Russian society: among hospitals, maternity home, schools, rehabilitation and scald centers of Saratov, Saratov region and other regions of Russia.
We are glad that besides information about charitable activities of Canadian companies themselves the society will know about the corporative social responsibility of Canadian companies conducting business on the territory of Russian Federation.
We wish “European House” every success in their excellent initiative!

Still larger numbers of participants are taking part in charitable activities in Russia. It is important that together with this the mechanisms of increasing of the effectiveness of invested means could be improved and the sphere of charity could be enriched with new social practices.
Systematized information about participation of business in charitable programs and projects which will be presented in the Information guide can become the base for the development of new and necessary for the society forms of charitable activities, namely the ones oriented to the programs of long duration and to the solving of complicated complex problems.
